Hello people. After losing another family member I haven't been active here.

I am now returning with a question.

If my chicken gets an operation I want to have her live with me in my apartment until she is ready to be outside again. Should I bring the other girl too?

I took her to the vet last week and I have been giving her the anti-inflammatory and liquid painkillers. I also have given her paraffin oil on doctors orders. The issue is food stuck in the crop, constipated. First she wouldn't eat/poop/move/speak.
Now she wants to eat (isn't allowed to bc she is eating critical care food), walk around, talk, but no poop. I can feel the old seeds stuck in the crop. I want to bring her to the vet again on monday bc I ran out of the painkillers.

Currently my chickens live with my parents.
I have moved into the city in a new apartment.
Clearly they can't care for them - even though they claim years of chicken ownership. Featured is the poop I saw her produce yesterday. No seeds in it - this is why she might have to get the operation. They will X-ray her first.

Bring the second bird as well, but in a second cage to make sure it will not "help" with preening off the suture.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. :hugs

If someone knows what kind of food I can cook them please share! She hates the critical care feed and vet said the seeds are too hard. She can't have "hard" food so I want to cook her soft food.

Scrambled eggs with fine oat meal and millet should entice them. You could add some grated carrots as well.

A few bits of chilled coconut oil can help to get things moving again. Let her have one tablespoon worth of it, they usually like the taste.
