Thanks HopKat for my PFM ♥
Been a while since I've been on BYC, sorry if I never replied to your private message!
Thought I'd give a quick update on where I've been, just to vent if nothing else.
We used to live in a 2 bedroom static caravan on a gypsy-site. It was pretty decent most of the time, our landlords were decent and protective of us which was great. I was able to raise God knows how many quail and then 10 little Silkies!
The bad side of the caravan site was that during colder weather, our electricity was constantly going out (sometimes for several days). This made the caravan incredibly cold as it only had electric heating. We have a little toddler, so when this kept happening we were looking for a way to move. Unfortunately we couldn't afford anywhere locally.
Last December, our landlord was away and our electricity went out. One of our neighbours decided to try and fix it himself, he caused a surge and blew all our power sockets, lights, everything. I was fortunate enough to be stood next to our fuze box at the time and managed to put two fires out. After this, it was never the same, we'd lost thousands of pounds worth of appliances and consoles, etc., which were all plugged in.
I tried desperately for help, every charity turned us down and told me that we aren't "homeless" as we have a 'shell' to live in, even if it didn't have electricity or water. Our local council really screwed us over, they'd previously promised us a place if anything went wrong in the caravan site, then decided they couldn't when the moment came. My partner's parents saved us with a donation and we managed to find a discounted 3 bed house near to my Mum (who was previously 2hrs away).
The house has served us amazingly, it's lovely living in a real brick building. Unfortunately we don't have birds anymore and won't be allowed at any point in the future. We have two little gerbils though. We have to move out before the end of July, so I am hoping we can find somewhere which would allow us to have birds.
I'm hoping we can get a pet, possibly a parrot or pigeon, in the future.. just need to find more information on them to fuel my autistic brain lol.
Over the last 9 months I've gone through a lot medically too, I now only work 2 days a week at a preschool due to heart/joint problems. Turns out I have faulty valves in my heart!
Unfortunately don't know what the joint problem is yet, it has affected me all my life, but as NHS queue times on the UK are ridiculous hopefully I will find out over the next few years. I was also diagnosed as autistic with ADHD, however another doctor is disputing this and saying I have symptoms of both due to PTSD.
There is my amazing life story from the past year! My children are both THRIVING, especially our littlest one who has become a very clever, yet sassy, young man.
I hope you've all been well!
