Long time reader, first time poster!
I am just beside myself with anticipation... My first order of 25 chicks are in the air as we speak. I ordered from Mcmurray, and I live in Los Angeles County. A far cry from Iowa.
I have been toying with the idea of having laying hens for several years and have read this site almost from its inception. I have NEVER seen such camaraderie, kindness and love from strangers on any other site! I don't really need anything, this time-haha, I just needed to vent. This has been a long road for me. I got a catalog from Mcmurray in 2005 and have dreamed and drooled over it that I can't put any more tape on it... I finally decided IT IS TIME!
So here I sit. I knew that they would be coming sometime from the 5th to the 8th, I went to the post office to give them a heads up, hoping against hope that Mcmurray would not send them today, Saturday, because that would mean that they will be "somewhere" without me able to get to them and out of the box until Monday! So of course, with all my tracking, they sent them at 2am from Iowa, which means that they were probably hatched on Friday.... AND I WON'T GET THEM UNTIL MONDAY!
I DON'T WANT DEAD CHICKENS MY FIRST TIME OUT.
I know what all of you experts say, I have read over all the posts about delivery and how they can last for 3 days... but this is just really making me a nervous wreck
Thanks for letting me rant BYCer's... thanks for being here.
