I am 80 years old, retired from teaching, then raising Amazon parrots, Dachshunds and now that I am REALLY retired, I have 4 hens and 3 chicks whose eggs I bought on eBay. My favorite chickens are those with topknots. In the past I have had Polish and Polish bantams, Spitzhauben, Crève Cœur, and Houdan. Right now I don’t have any of these. I used to free range my chickens, but I have been wiped out numerous times by predators (Fox, opossums, raccoons and even Cooper’s hawks). Now I have a fancy chicken coop. I have finally learned my lesson. I hope to acquire some more chickens.
