Hello All,
I have been reading the forums and haven't seen my questions answered. I would like to know, out of the lifetime of a duck, how long they lay eggs. I understand chickens don't lay their whole life, and usually become meat. Is this true for a duck?

Also, I've been reading about the most productive duck breeds. It looks to be the khaki campbell and the indian runner. Very simliar to the question above, what is the most productive longest laying duck?

I look forward to reading your responses.

My Runners have slowed way down in their fifth year, but we are still getting eggs from them - of the nine Runners, we get an egg or two a day, sometimes three or four - which is fine for us, as their primary roles are as pets, and slug eliminators and fertilizer providers.

One of my three Buff Orpington ducks still lays an egg a day, 8 days out of 10. She is five years old, also.

I know a fellow who had an 8 year old Black Swedish duck who still was laying - not daily, but regularly.
