Hello all!
My name is Nicole Adelle and I have been a member of this forum for over nine years, BUT I just got my very first chicks this last March.
I have been wanting chickens for as long as I can remember, but unfortunately, never lived anywhere where they were allowed. In 2019, I moved from Pasadena, CA to Brierfield, AL and, as soon as I got over the intense culture shock, I started planning to set up my first coop. Thanks to Covid and other, general life stuff, it took me a couple of years to get everything ready, but this winter, I girded my loins and finally hit the purchase button on the Tractorsupply website. My 10 little ladies arrived safely on a freezing Friday morning and they have been thriving ever since. We finally put them outside in the middle of May and it's been a joy to sit outside with them while they scratch around investigate their run. I know we won't be getting eggs for a while yet, but even if we didn't, I just adore them as pets.
All of them are generic "colored egg" chickens and I am still working on telling them all apart, but their names are Sparrow, Gladys, Myrtle, Hazel, Ethel, Opal, Mabel, Bessie, Blanche and Goldie. All names were stolen from my Grandmother's 1942 College Yearbook.
Besides my new flock, I also have 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 parrots, 2 snakes, 3 tortoises, 3 turtles, 1 leopard gecko, 3 white's tree frogs, 2 grey tree frogs, and a salamander named Doug. Needless to say, I like animals...
Anyway, just saying hi and looking forward to chatting with everyone.
