Look at the present my doggy brought me. *graphic pics*

You better give that baby lots of hugs and kisses, that's a good girl right there!

you have some great dogs EVEN though one of them drives you nuts, doesnt the old dog put her in her place?

He looks like a good "lap" dog, like one of my dogs thinks he is LOL.
We nick named him chubbs, hes a choc. lab. I love him so much.
seems like the more food you give him, the more he loves you.

She's a trip, he's a loyal and trusted friend.
I trust Sam (yellow) to come out with me in our unfenced backyard to sniff and pee around the coop while I feed chickens each morning. He listens to voice commands and will do as I say.
If I try to take her out there she RUNS everywhere and makes the chickens & goat nervous.

She's still kind of a puppy, so we'll keep working on her manners and listening skills.
Moles are the first thing she's done to HELP around the house. LOL

ETA: Sam looks at Katie as a friend, he loves her and treats her great. The only time he growls at her is when they are fed, but we kennel them to keep them from arguing.

I had two labs just like you describe. The yellow lab, Rudy, was an angel and the black one, Gracie, was a holy terror.

Rudy would respond to voice commands as well as silent ones.

Gracie responded to...I don't know? The voices in her head, maybe?

Took Rudy to the beach one year and we were out swimming, she and I. A rip current got me and Rudy-amazingly enough, stayed right with me. Eventually I grabbed on to her tail and she I worked together & got back to shore.

Took Gracie to the beach one year and Gracie jumped in and started swimming for England. It took two of us to swim out, convince her that she wouldn't make it, and force her to come back to shore.

Roo Used to sit on the arm of the sofa and look out the dutch door when it was time for me to come home from school or work. She knew what time I was supposed to come home. If I didn't show up on time, she got right fretted.

Gracie used to sit above me in the loft when I was on the sofa and spit on me. If some one made her angry, she would go pee in their bed.

I could tell Roo and Gracie stories all day, they were exceptional dogs.

In their old age, Rudy lost her sight and hearing. Gracie would go outside with Roo and walk beside her. If Roo got too far from the house, Gracie would nudge her to get her back on track.

Roo had to be put down when her arthritis got too bad. A few weeks later Gracie left us, too. We think she just missed her buddy and wanted to go where Roo went. That was six years ago & my heart still aches.

Damn good dogs, those labs. I have two now. Well...one and a half. One of them is half lab half boxer. I know...I like to live on the edge!

As for moles...we had a thriving little colony of them until I got my cat Keeza. Keeza eats moles. All we find of them are their creepy little feet.

My wife has three cats that hunt moles. I hate what the moles do to my yard and garden so I am always pleased when they bring us a mole. Cats don't seem to dig big holes in the yard like dogs do when they are hunting moles. My neighbor even encourages the cats to come over to his yard to hunt moles. The cats have bells on their collars so I have never seen them with a bird but they do show up with mice and once the male cat came with a squirrel! They leave the chickens alone, as a matter of fact one of the cats will not go near the chickens and the male cat gets chased away by the chickens if he comes near them. I have even had to protect him from one of the chickens.
