I bought some bantam silkied hatching eggs in the black and barred variety from swheat. I was only able to get two to hatch, but I took pictures of them today... they were born yesterday.

Help me guess what they are and maybe what gender the barred one is.

Here is the one I think is barred, can you tell by the white spot if it is male or female?

Sorry, I am fully aware that they are cochins, I was more curious if they were barred or black and if anyone that knows stuff about barreds could tell me what gender they think based on the white spot on his/her head

they are barred rocks...just a silkied variety. is it just for reg barred rocks?

The black sex-link works when you breed a Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire rooster to a Barred Rock Hen - it doesn't apply when you breed two Barred Rocks together.

So, the white spot on your little one's head has nothing to do with its gender. You're just going to have to wait it out and see if it's a boy or a girl!

LOL, I need to do better specifying what I am looking for. I KNOW THAT THEY ARE BANTAM SILKIED COCHINS. I also know that they are either BLACK OR BARRED. What I didnt know was if they were black or barred and if there was anything that would tell gender.

Chick #1 does look like it could be Barred - this is a picture on Feathersite.com of a Barred Cochin chick for you to reference:

And Chick #2 looks just like my little Black Cochin when he hatched.
