Look what my hubby brought home! Will this work?

It's a big shipping crate. I think is is 5'w x 12'L x 4' h . We want to make a coop out of it. First of all, is this a good thing to make a coop out of? If so...... I would LOVE any suggestions that anyone might have to help us along.

Can you put hardware cloth (1/2 inch * 1/2 inch) on the open 'top' then cover 1/2 the 'top' with treated wood or metal...

Um... then I use saw horses (plastic ones) from harbor freight and drill pvc through for roost and then close up the front, make a standard size door so you dont have to stoop...

cover the rest with net mesh so they can get sun???
