Oh no, Mum. Five metres of empty perches and four more empty cubbies aren’t the same. This is the only good spot.
 
LOVE this! It demonstrates the impossible-to-understand mind of chickens.

After I moved five chicks out of the brooder -- where they liked to perch on a roost -- and into the new coop, they ignored two coop-wide roosts and piled onto the floor in one corner.

Thankfully, as they have gotten older, they are now using the roosts. Of course, in the big coop, everybody ignores three of the five nesting boxes, and often, two big girls try to wedge into the same box.
