Hi there!

I am looking for a DIY coop design for winter in Vermont -- one that is mobile and modular and that will hold 5-6 chickens and that is predator-proof and that won't cost me a fortune.

Mobile I am looking for a design that I can move around the yard by myself.

Designed for Winter in Vermont The design needs some insulation. In Vermont, it gets to -25°F a couple nights a year here, with daytime temps not above 0°F for a couple days. Winter lows can be between -15 and +15. This is USDA garden zone 4.

Predator-proof Where I live, there are foxes, bobcats, and coyotes. I need a coop and a run that will fit together, but not allow the foxes to dig under it and get in. Chicken wire does not keep out foxes, bobcats, and coyotes, but I don't know how to recognize whether a design will be predator-proof.

Modular I need a somewhat modular design so that I can disassemble and reassemble the entire coop. I am a renter, not a homeowner. I need to be able to take the coop apart and move its modular pieces in my minivan to whereever I have to move next. It would be nice to be able to hook the parts together.

Inexpensive I want to do this for under $300.

Available designs I have looked at lots and lots and lots of designs on the internet, but I can't figure out if most of the designs meet my criteria. I have also read posts in the various forums.

Cheers,
Caitlin
