Hello, everyone!

We have been long time fans of Backyard Chickens, and always recommend our customers to come get advice from you guys (because you all know everything!).

With that being said, we are currently looking for a writer for our incubator site, Incubators.org. This would be a work-at-home job that can be done anywhere you have a reliable internet connection.

The most important component is a passion for poultry, self-motivation, and an ability to research and produce content quickly. I currently have a need to produce about 600-700 pieces of content. The pay will be $6 per article for this specific content need, but future articles can range between $2 and $10 based on the length and depth of the piece. I will go into this in more detail once we have narrowed down our candidate pool.

Of course, we don't expect you to write 700 articles overnight- our minimum would be 20 content pieces per month, but more is great! This can work as a full-time job, or would be a great supplement income for a backyard breeder.

If you are interested, please have an article prepared to share with me. It can be something you have written here on backyard chickens that you feel is well-written and a good representation of what you can do, an article that was written by you elsewhere, or something you write for this specific purpose.

Please PM me if you are interested in this position. Please attach, cut and paste, or add a link to your writing sample. I will be collecting applicants over the weekend (please apply by Tues AM at the latest- I will update if I am going to extend that), and will be sending out responses mid-next week once I have had time to review. If I do not get a writing sample from you, I will not be considering your application. Once I have reviewed the writing samples and narrowed down the potential candidates, I will send a test article for you to write, which, if acceptable, you will be paid for regardless of whether or not you get the job. I will make my final selection from the results of the test articles, and a phone interview with my top picks at that point.

I am offering this opportunity to Backyard Chicken users first because I know that you are the knowledge leaders in the field. I look forward to working with you!

Thanks,
ReptiPro

P.S. Feel free to ask any questions below. I will try to answer as much as possible, but may not be available all weekend (holiday! woohoo!). If you know someone that this job would be perfect for, send them my way!

They state what they're looking for, did you read it? They're looking for publishable articles for which they're proposing to pay as little as $2 & as much as $10.

I am very interested and will prepare some material for submission over the weekend. I do have some questions, though.
What length of articles are appropriate for the publication?
Are you looking for material regarding raising poultry, or merely the incubation process?
Thanks, in advance, for the opportunity!

To answer your questions:

The articles will vary in length, and the pay scale is based on the article. They can be as short as a paragraph up to 750-1000 words, thus the reason for the large pay range.
Some of the content will be rather forumlaic and technical, where as some of it will be more creative.
We have needs for both types of content, as some will be used on our site for information about different poultry breeds and their care, while others will be used for newsletters and other places on the web.

I have enjoyed the writing samples from the applicants I have so far. Definitely some strong contenders out there! Thanks, guys, and keep those samples coming!
