Hi there!
This is my first winter keeping ducks, and overall things have been going well. However, last night—and again tonight—when I went to tuck my girls in, I noticed some ice forming on the surface feathers around their necks. I’ve been letting them sleep in the garage where it’s warmer, and the small bits of ice do thaw.
I’m wondering what might be causing this. They have access to a heated dog bowl for water that’s deep enough for them to dunk their heads. I’ve removed their swimming pool since I live in Canada and it would just freeze over anyway.
Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!
