Hello all :frow

It’s been awhile since I was on BYC... I have already spent so much time this morning on here looking in at what everyone is up to!:jumpy

I am going to be building a small temporary coop for my Juveniles. (I have had chickens for 2 years, this will be temp housing in a run adjacent to the 2 year old hens’ run until they can be integrated later on.) The chicks will be be hanging out here for maybe a couple of months at most, and then the coop will be kept for future possible needs like isolation of a sick bird or future broods.

I am wanting to put a simple 2-tier hinged roost in this coop for easy clean up purposes. I know I have seen them many times in y’all’s coops... but my husband does not get on BYC and me trying to explain this to him & him actually accomplishing what I want is not going to happen without some kind of plan or instruction. I want to note that my husband is an amazing large equipment mechanic that can fix any thing mechanical.... woodworking is just not his “thing”. (The original main coop build was not fun!):duc

Can anyone help me out with just a basic list of materials & how I should explain it to him? I can seem them in my mind!

Thanks to anyone who can help us!

Instead of a hinge I slotted a 2x6 then set the 2x4 roost bar in the slot. I can just lift the roost bars out to clean or replace.
