Hello! We are looking to get a kitten and a puppy at the same time some time in the future. A lagotto romagnolo puppy and a siberian kitten. Looking for what is out there and pricing...

I'm curious - why wouldn't any of the millions of sweet kittens and puppies that are sitting at pounds all over the U.S. be worthy? Why a kitten and puppy no one has ever heard of and I'm sure are quite expensive?

Again, just curious.

My husband is allergic.

and his allergies are broadening and becoming more severe. he however can not seem to stay away from pets whenever we go places.... i thought getting him a few of his own might be a good idea. and so as much as i have always been a part of a pound puppy household i would rather make the more responsible choices now so that i don't get attached, try to make it work, and end up having to rehome a loving member of the family who won't understand.

You might also want to look into to the Korat cat breed they are friendly for people with allergies.
Good luck

I'd never heard of either breed, so I looked them up. The dog looks alot like the Obamas' new pooch. Check out Wikipedia's page on Siberian cats. You might want to re-think that one. I hope you find great critters.

I looked up the Korat but i couldn't find where it was hypoallergenic...??? The siberian has a much lower number of FelD-1 protiens and thus is more hypoallergenic.... I'm up for other options if they're out there

Khyree,
There was just a story on KOMO 4 (Seattle) news, a few minutes ago, about hypoallergenic dogs and cats. They reccomended Cornish Rex, Devon Rex, and Sphynx for cat breeds. For dogs they suggested long haired dogs, (something about how they shed) I didn't pay close attention so I don't remember the specific breeds. Good luck.

That breed of cat wont be any more friendly for anyone with cat allergies then a normal kitty.
I dont know about the dog.
More power to you you can get any breed of dog or cat that you want from where ever you want and its no one elses bussness.
I would recomend that you not buy a breed just for one reason though , diffrent breeds have diffrent personalities and health and temperment issues you shouldnt say oooh that is a pretty dog / cat I want one and then not check what there temerpment is like , there activity level, what medical condetions are commen with the breed ect .
Good luck

That's why my list is so narrow... i've been trying to find a pet that is good with chickens, children, isn't going to die if i have to leave it alone for 8 hours, AND hypoallergenic.... yeah... it's a pretty short list. no worries. as i said i'm not rushed, i do want to make the right decision because to me it's just like being married to the wrong person... awfully lonely, sad, and uncomfortable when all is said and done.
