Hi,
I bought my first Cochins last year from Mcmurrys and I am addicted and plan on ordering more this year. I purchased blue cochins without reading the fine print about the color info in the end I ended up with black, and ones that are mostly white with a few spots. I am really looking for info on colors and what crosses will create or possibly create what colors? I posted earlier this spring asking which rooster was best to keep as we had a few extras and we had one black one with red and I was told this was not a desirable trait. Then the other day I saw a rooster that was black with red being advertised as a Lemon something? so I am really looking for someone who is activly breeding these to give more info on the colors. I really want to know which colors are considered desirable and which ones are not.Is the color the only thing that is different between the blue, black, yellow, cochins? We love how easy going they are that they are large enough to still be a nice bird to butcher and lets face it they are adorable with all those feathers. I am also wondering when they normally start laying eggs and what type of egg producers they are? So far I have not had any start laying and they were all purchased early last spring. Thanks in advance Nicki
