it's been a unexpected night. at 3 a.m. my brother-in-law called me. he had hit a deer on his way to work. come to find out it was a spotted fawn. broke neck and crushed skull. would never intentionally kill and eat one that young but since it was already dead...... any way not sure of the best way to cook the meat. i figured it would be about like lamb or kid (young goat). any ideas? thanks for any replies and recipes.

I see it's been a couple of days...

We've eaten a lot of venison and goat, no lamb. Honestly, I just cook it like beef or pork. Chops or steaks get pan-fried or broiled, roasts get crock-potted or pressure cooked. I do pretty basic cooking here, and season most red meats with a mixture of salt/pepper/garlic/onion/smoked paprika. I used to use so much energy looking for the "right" way to cook venison or goat, then finally realized it's all meat.

Did you cook it yet or is it too late for replies? Just saw this post. I cook lamb a lot. I just cook it like I would beef. I allow it to cook for a couple hours so that it can be tender. Perfect every time.
