Hi all! Im new here so please bare with me.

Im looking for some show quality or at least in standard chickens (hopefully female). They can be chicks or pullets I don’t really mind!

I dont really have a preference on breeds but some of my favorites are Wyandottes (laced or pencilled), Sussex (speckled), Silkies, Brahmas (dark).

Any hatchery or breeder suggestions would be great! Hoping they are not too pricey as I am an unemployed student.

I would suggest attending a local poultry show and talking to folks showing the breeds that interest you. Good luck establishing your flock.
I’m going to try that next month when showing but there’s very few people who show chickens in my area and a majority of them are silkies. Is there a difference between show quality and breeding to the standard? There’s a localish breeder that breeds Speckled Sussex and Dark Brahmas that says she breeds to standard but doesn’t guarantee show quality. If there is a difference (as there seems to be) what is it?

Last spring I got some Speckled Sussex hatching eggs from a NPIP breeder in Seffner, FL (to add a different line to my SS flock).
He raises show flock birds.
I can PM you the information. They did ship the eggs to me.
It looks like you are about an hour away from them.
