Looking into getting Peacocks Need Info on them

I would keep them penned cause they are a good snack for predictors. Also get more than one because they get lonely and die. Don't worry about clipping wings. That doesn't really work

It wouldn't surprise me if a solo pea with no other birds or chickens or buddies around failed to thrive. They are pretty social critters. My dominant IB male pined for weeks for his chickens, long after the chickens had adjusted to the separation. He paced the fence and tried to get a glimpse of them, The other IB male would lie on the ground nearest the chicken pen and just act like he was all despondent. He's the one the girls actually like to have lie down near them when they are nesting or resting. He's their buddy. He missed the chickens a lot.

Yeah, I think a pea -- especially a bonded one -- could die of a broken heart. The death certificate might say coccidia or something else, but the stress could be enough to make the bird susceptible to something it ordinarily would fend off. It sounds dumb, but they really do get attached.

I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend getting juveniles over chicks, chicks are delicate and if you're a first timer it can be very discouraging when you have deaths. Juveniles are the way to go if you want less work but still have birds young enough to be impressionable.
