Looking to buy some chickens

Me and my husband are wanting to buy some chicks for egg laying. What breeds are the best for laying eggs and are friendly with good personalities? Also, we will probably build our own chicken coop; what design is easiest to build? What would you suggest?

Hi and from Ohio. So glad you joined. Your sex links are about the best along with the Black Australorp, RIR, Wyandottes, and Barred Rocks and there are others as well. You should check out the coop section here. You might find some interesting ideas.

I would suggest the Barred Rock. They are a good layer and very friendly.
