Not taken personally. I wasn't intending to promote fear mongering. I have noticed the same as you. Outdated feed has diminished value. You are correct that I probably shouldn't put a hard time frame on consumption. But I also feel that the generic use of the term "old" in reference to the age of feed leaves a great deal of interpretation. This leaves the issue of how old is too old. If you have information on any studies done on this I'd love to see them. I don't want to pass on inaccurate information in the future.

I've not seen any.
I do not believe that animal feeds are tested for safety/efficacy/potency,
like some human foods and most drugs,
in order to apply expiry dates(or they'd be on the bags).

I do agree with asking about the mill date, as well as the nutrition tag,
as if it is older than a 'few months' it could be an issue,
along with possible molding and/or grain pests.
Folks need to learn to understand and keep an eye on these things.
