I wish more roosters would have haatched. I don't have enough for a decent meal, but I have too many for breeding. After I selected my breeders I had three roosters left. I had six roosters hatch, and I had 19 hens. I am going to feast when this next batch of 7 week olds fatten up a bit. Then there is those 3 week olds, and those week olds. And oh I was supposed to put 60 eggs into lockdown yesterday. I am always forgetting something.

Well it is winter, I have a few too many roosters in the colony cage as it is, and now I need some to make a decent meal out of. I usually slaughter when I get about 15-20 roosters that didn't sell in a week or so. Right now I could take four out of the colony pen, and 2 out of the grow out pen. That is six and I would like to slaughter more at one time. So it all comes down to this: I am hungry and want some quail. I don't need many hens at the moment, but I could use some more. I have too many roos in the breeder pens and grow out pens. I just need a few more to make a good batch.
