My seven girls are starting to lose feathers on their behinds. They are red and look painful... One started out molting at the base of the tail, and I think pecking that gave them a taste for feathers? We are spraying them with Vetracin, and that makes them a bit less red, but only my Black Beauty Sex-Link is getting better. Any sugestions?

We have the same problem....we have 9 barred rocks and 7 of them have large bald patches on the back and behind....the other 2 are mostly feathered. This started over the winter because they did not have as much room to get out of the coupe and small covered run. Definitely a pecking order established... We are hoping as the weather warms and days are longer they will get out and get away from each other. It has not affected their laying.
