Hi. This is my first posting to this forum. I have 14 chickens, different breeds about a little over a year old. About half of my girls have lost their back feathers (the rooster is now gone)and their backs are raw looking. I thought they would get better but now they have lost feathers on their thighs and around the vents. A friend suggested treating them for mites. Your forum info seemed consistant with this. I have treated them twice with Sevin dust, cleaned the coop thoroughly but they aren't getting better. Any advice on what this could be? Michelle

A friend of mine who raises chickens thought that they may have mites. Since I am a new mom, I am not sure what moulting looks like! I uploaded a pic of my Rhode Island Red. As soon as I can figure how to insert into a post I will do so. When they moult do they generally lose feathers all over their bodies? Michelle

I posted a question last night about my chickens who have lost a lot of feathers and have raw skin. I am not sure if they are molting or have another problem. I have the pic attached now if anyone has any recommendations. The chickens are eating and laying fine. thanks!
