My keets have been in a grow out pen outside for about a week. I am sure everyone knows we are have the worst drought in a century here in Oklahoma. A few place have gotten rain recently, but we still had none. Last night @ 1145 a storm blew in. Major winds, lighting & 2+ hours of pouring rain. We needed it so bad, so was thankful. Our ground is so dry there wasn't even a puddle this am!
Go to check on the birds & found 2 dead, not sure if they got wet & chilled (it got down to 68, has been staying about 85 @ nigt & 110+ during the days) or trampled by the others. DH was digging a hole & about to cull one that was looking rough. I snatched it up, wrapped him in a towel & hold him for a good hour. Put him under a heat lamp for a while, once I saw him eating I took him back to his flock. He immediately ran over to join them. So glad I got out there before DH went overboard!
