Lost a chick...point me to the angry venting section please

Chicks were out scratching around.....dogs, who dont bother with the chicks, were in the same area.
Went in to the house, came back out 15 mins later...one chick on its side. Brought it in and wrapped it up. Died.

I prefer my chickens to my dogs, and I'm not going through this again.....I think they'll have to go.

I am so mad. How I kept my hands off the dogs i dont know.

sorry about your chick. It happened to me too. dog had been real good for a good month, ran in the house to get something, looked out the window and he was walking across the yard with a rooster in his mouth. never trusted him again! He spent all last summer, fall, and winter on the chain. This winter he tour a ligament in his hind leg, and he is old so he isn't can't chase anything any more.

I do have a fenced area for the chickens, but i like to let them roam about when im there. Just took a phone call and came back to Sparkles (daughter had named her) on the ground.
Had 'The Conversation' with my daughter about Sparkles dying. She took it better than i thought, but shes not talking to the dogs now, for what they did. Had to laugh when she said that to me.

Broke my anger and made me smile.
