Lost a pekin... what could have done it

Found one of my pekins while cutting the fields.

It was the female half of a pair. And was found while cutting the fields. That pair is not locked up at night they sleep by the pond.

It looked like what ever it was ate nothing but the insides. What does that?

I just lost my male pekin... insides, rear, and feet gone... no idea what got him. He went missing over a week ago and we found him tonight. My backyard is marsh/wetland and have no clue as to what got him, but it sounds similar to your loss. I don't think it was a fox, because if it was, they usually don't leave a trace. Dogs and cats(rare) would leave a big mess. An eagle/hawk would leave injuries on the back and neck. A raccoon would eat the head.

I'm sorry for your loss. Hope it doesn't happen again and that you can figure out what got your duck.
