So, I go out this a.m. to check on the birds and discover that one of my BR hens has expired in the hen house. I checked her over and did not notice any marks that I could find or blood anywhere. She had been hovering nearby a clutch (?) of eggs the past couple of days so I did not disturb her. Everyone else is doing ok, alert and full of energy.
We did have that huge storm come through last night but they all were inside the henhouse all warm and dry. So maybe it was age since she was a bird that came with some others I picked up...still, it is the 1st loss this yr.
