Lost my favorite hen

lost my silkie hen today. I don't know what got her - didn't find a body just counted 3 chickens (supposed to have 4) when I locked up today. We checked their normal haunts but she wasn't there. So now I have more roos then hens.

southernsibe is going to give me more hens. need to decide what I want

Being that she is a silkie, definately dont give up hope, Maybe she is brooding somewhere!? Do they free range? I sure hope she comes back.

So sorry to hear that. I lost one of my Silkie hen's 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, I found the feathers. If you haven't, keep looking. Recently someone on BYC had a hen return after almost 30 days.

I would put my money on Broody!!!!! I hope she is safe tonight

If you find her ok tomorrow, you should watch her to see where she goes so you can find her at night.

She may be broodie some where..

I would go out with a flash light and look again,
she may be hunkered down somewhere.

My DH found her across the street (our property also). don't know how she got seperated from the rest. I had to cross our stream to get her but she waited for me. she must have been hungry - she ate for like 2 - 3 minutes before she hopped up into a nesting box.
