Got a friendly call from my neighbor late today. He said one of my chickens was hanging around under his tree... He (she actually) was in fact, but torn up. No head, one side missing a wing. Featherless and some flesh gone from the sides, but not "eaten" as I would suspect a chicken loving animal would have done.
Is this the tell-tale sign of the hawk that has been plaguing me of late?
I am not really that upset, as it is one of the non-laying freeloaders that I have, so I guess it was just her fate.... (either me or the predator).
I know it is my fault for letting them free-range. She was an older bird, so do you think she was slower? Not as agile? Tastier??
