Thursaday we had some really bad weather and as I was catching the silkies in the pouring rain and putting them into the shed, As I went back for another one, I watched my peahen just drop dead. She just fell over and was gone
There was nothing wrong with her at all, perfectly healthy. Was eating, sun bathing and even rolling in the dirt two hours earlier! She was suppose to bred with my white eye charcoal I got from Deerman. I am so upset and angry right now. Why does this happen? Last week we had a very bad storm on Friday and then on Saturday my niece asked if she could take the silkie chicks outside. I told her ok as long as she puts them in the cat screen house so they can't run away. Well the wind blew and a 9 inch tree branch came crashing down onto the screen house crushing all 7 chicks. How does one explain to a child that it was not her fault? Sometimes I just want to give mother nature the bird!
So yes in a 7 day period I lost 7 chicks and a peahen
