Lost one today, no idea why, down to four.

They're not fed all day long, they're on grass, and they have plenty of water. I have them on meatbird feet.

Just a casualty of genetics?
It was listless and wheezing/gasping this AM. Not in any pain, but not responsive either.

If it's wheezing and gasping for air that has nothing to do with genetics... they may have picked up something from your other birds? Is this a possibility?

I wouldn't worry too much about losing just one- that's the cost of doing business with meat birds. It doesn't mean there are any problems, or that you did anything wrong necessarily.

The other three are doing fine, and have a date with a sharp knife in two weeks.
