In the middle of the night last night we heard some horrible animal screams outside the window. It only lasted a couple seconds so I figured maybe it was cats fighting or something. This morning we found one of our chickens dead outside. I didn't count when I shut them in the coop last night and she must have been out. Unfortunately it was our friendliest chicken and the alpha of our girls (we have a rooster also). Her head was gone as were her innards but the rest of her appeared untouched. I did find a trail of feathers though the yard where she'd been chased. Does this sound like a coon? We have both coons and possums but they mostly stay away. We have dogs but they are in at night. The chickens are supposed to be locked in our coop at night which is elevated and made of plywood so pretty safe (I hope).
