We had a quail hen taken overnight. The only predators I know of in my area are raccoons. I’m sure we likely have coyote, possum & skunk but I haven’t seen any. She wasn’t old enough yet to lay eggs so whatever it was was interested in the quail themselves. I had a terrible feeling last night but we never heard a thing. We also have rabbits in the same area and chickens about 30 feet away. The quail cage was at least two feet off the ground; we’ve put it in the garage for now. The rabbit cages are higher off the ground, maybe three feet. We have had rabbits in the same area (under our deck) for years with no predation issues and the quail were only on their second night out. :hit That piece of plywood in the picture has fresh marks on it as if pieces have been removed.

I agree, a coon. If you have a game camera, put it up. Most likely it has been lurking and will be back now that it got a quail. Good luck...

We just bought one yesterday. No pics, just us testing it. :( My cat and I were enjoying breakfast on the deck one day and saw a large one just sauntering by. I’m so glad she didn’t try to chase it! We bought a ton of .5” hardware cloth and are lining the entire area.
