Lost two birds last night

Well I set the trap yesterday and baited it and today I find that the bait is gone but the trap was not triggered. I'm going to rebait it tonight with sardines and make it so the coon has to wrestle with the package to get it open that way it will trigger the trap.

Good luck! I haven't had any trouble with coons yet... But had lots of other stuff, weasels, coyotes, foxes, huskies (no joke), and even had a skunk in the coop!

I hope that you catch him! I hate those little buggers! Trash barrel theives! LOL...

Oh, I have also heard that a skunk would take just the head too.

My first thought was a skunk because we smelled one about a week ago. But there is now way a skunk could have gotten into the pen. The only possible animal was a coon. Also typically skunks will take the eggs and there were still eggs in the box and there was no sign of the other hen. So the critter got in and killed one of my birds and took the other one with it.

OH NO! I'm so sorry!

Well Reset the trap last night and when I got up this morning the trap was triggered but there was nothing in it. I had put some marshmallows in it and barely popped the top on a can of sardines so it would have to struggle to get them out. This morning the marshmallows were gone and the sardines were still in the trap they had just been moved to the front of the cage. Also the trap had been moved about 3 feet from where I set it so I guessing that whatever it is is pretty big.

Finally figured out why I can't catch it. Went out to check the trap this morning and once again triggered with nothing in it. Then I notice that the clips that hold the back panel of the cage on had been ripped off. Then we notice that on the hood of our lawn mower the tracks it left. This thing is a monster. It is absolutely huge. I going to have to come up with another idea on how to catch this thing now because it's way to big to fit into any of the traps I've got.
