When I got my chicks last June, I was told to expect approximately 4 eggs per hen per week. I have 14 hens. That figures out to 7.98 eggs a day. My hens are laying between 10 and 12 eggs a day.............and occasionally double-yoke eggs! Have I miss-figured, or are my hens working their butts off.............literally?

And how do you know that........................do you sit and watch them?

I'm way to busy to act as an observer!

I've Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds and Black Stars. Don't think I'd buy a chick if it weren't "meant for laying".

But the "one from each bird every 24-36 hours" isn't a figure I'd be told of before. Thanks. Thought maybe I had extraordinary hens. Nice to know they are acting normally.
