Loud after laying

Is being loud and vocal normal after laying an egg? I know before they are, but after?

Absolutely, some hens more than others. I have one girl who is not happy until the entire flock is squawking.

Thank goodness! She was in the nesting box for a while. I do have one hen that is having difficulty laying. I thought maybe it was her and she was in pain after she layed her egg that's why she was being loud.

Totally normal. It's why I always cringe when folks want a "quiet" breed to have stealth birds. Hens can be incredibly noisy, and not just when they lay.

Completely normal. The egg song can be "sung" before and after an egg is laid.

With our girls, 1 of the Buffs in particular is very loud before and after laying an egg. She makes all kinds of noise on the way into the coop to lay and then once done will stand on the ramp outside the coop making a HUGE racket. She always puffs up and struts around for a few minutes as if she's proud of herself after laying.

Some of my girls get the whole flock involved too, including the roosters. It's cute, but very noisy!

My girls have really loud egg songs. Completely normal for them to "sing" after laying.

Most of my hens have always squawked after laying and sort of purred before they lay. Yesterday, an Auracona followed the Barred Rock around while she settled in to lay. Today I had the first egg from the Auracona -- it's like she was in training with the BR to learn what to do. Pretty funny, really.
