3 and a half month old Australorp pullet has been wheezing for many weeks now. The rest of the adult flock and her age fellows have also been sneezing a lot. But, they are active in general as they eat and lay just fine.

Somedays her condition gets worse while on the other days, she seems fine. Nowadays, she is wheezing really loud. Loud enough to be heard from a meter or two. Her breathing is also very deep. Even the skin from her sides contracts and expands when she breathes!

I suspect that when my rooster got coryza, CRD infiltrated the flock. He is healthy now but has lost an eye due to the disease. That is just some extra information I thought should be made clear.

I am treating them with a medicine. This is the 2nd time I am giving this dosage since the end of December.

Sorry about your flock with respiratory disease. The enrofloxacin you are giving should help treat coryza, mycoplasma, or secondary bacterial disease. Make sure that the birds are drinking water normally. Medicines taste bad, and they might not take enough. Medicated water can also be added to some food. Most respiratory diseases are chronic and can return. They make carriers of survivors, and can keep the chickens from achieving their maximum health and laying. I would close the flock to new birds, so that others do not succumb.

My flock is isolated from others. Can there be any way to decrease her wheezing? It is still the same even after giving the medicine. I provided them with normal water. Her eyes are okay. No sign of any discharge.
