(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We first got chickens a year and a half ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 13 hens and 1 rooster (borrowing from a friend).
(3) What breeds do you have?
Our best guess - white leghorns, cinnamon queens, lace Wyandot, barred rock, isa red, Easter eggers, buff Orpington, and the rooster is Ameracauna mixed with either Australorp or Jersey Giant.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
We love the farm fresh eggs and their waddly run.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Mostly crafting- crochet, knit, cross-stitch, sewing- also reading, gardening, singing.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I’ve been married to my husband almost twenty years. We have five children ages 13-15, whom we homeschool. Besides chickens, we have an English Bulldog, 3 cats, 4 parakeets, an American Paint horse, and a saltwater fish tank.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC through a Google search looking for answers to one many questions. I’ve come back numerous times, and finally decided to just take the plunge and join. I’m not on social media and don’t do much conversing online, so this will be new for me.
