Love my Silkies

Hi I recently got in to chicken keeping as a way to teach children the benefits of caring for animals. Since then I have grown to love my feathered pets and have learned a lot about them through observation and research. I am looking forward to getting to know all fellow chicken owners.

Welcome to Backyard chickens. How many silkies do you have? BYC has several dedicated silkie threads, the longest running, I believe is simply "Silkie thread,". if you put that in the search box it will pop up. Silkies are generally kid favorites, docile and good sports about being dressed or pushed in a doll stroller. They are also noted as natural incubators, since they go broody often to hatch eggs and raise the chicks.

I started with 4 silkies 3 hens and 1 rooster. But 2 silkies went broody and we now have 11 beautiful chicks running around as well.
