Ok, we have 8 2 week old chicks with shared mothering between an EE and 2 bantums. What a joy, I never want to brood chicks under a light again (I will, just don't wanna). They are wonderful moms. Thanks for the encouragement of this thread to try my hand at this!

We bought the eggs on Craigslist and put them under our broodies and 19 days later viola! Wow, great experience! And I am hands off, no extra work, yippee!

Sounds perfect! It was the other way for me, my silkie broody attacked the chicks that hatched out of the eggs that I put under her... so I ended up brooding them myself. Much prefer hens to do all of the work!
