(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm very new to owning chickens, but have loved chickens in general for a long time.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
5! We just bought a group of adorable day-olds today, hoping to get some great layers from them.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Buff Orpington, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Mottled Japanese Bantam, Buff Brahma, Barred Rock
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Right now, since we just started today, I'm just loving watching the little babies cuddle and eat and drink. They're too cute!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I just recently exited the reptile hobby, and kept ball pythons, corn snakes, and blue tongue skinks until very recently. I also rehabilitate injured pigeons, and am a foster/owner of a pigeon flock. I do not race them, and just enjoy caring for them.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a massage therapist! Or rather, I will be next month when I graduate school and get my certification. I also have a green cheek conure named Apple, and a mini Australian Shepherd named Moth.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I couldn't find lavenders in my local area and wanted to see if I could find any here, as well as to connect with the chicken community now that I'm raising them. <3
P.S. I know the chicken in my icon is a Blue Copper Marans and not a Lavender haha. XD I just love the photo (and the breed)!
