We have 6 reds and 2 ameraucauna! Reds are laying now each laying one a day. Ameraucaunas are young and just starting to introduce into flock. Big girls are picking on the young, but looking forward to them finally getting them integrated.

Welcome to Backyard chickens MeringueManor !! I hope you enjoy it and the camaraderie here and everybody that goes nuts over chickens (me being one of them....) Have fun! And ask questions!

Hi and welcome to BYC. Great link from redsoxs, but however one goes about integration, things can seem to us humans as a bit brutal. Hope all goes well.

Best wishes

Thank you all for the encouragement. The integration process seems to be taking forever (but I seriously lack patience) we've been following the advice from the link listed by redsox for the past 6 weeks. We have a 2-3 hour window where we let the new girls out of their protected area but our reds just don't seem to be getting friendlier. The ameruicanas just hide and totally freak out. The reds like to corner, chase, and peck the new girls and I'm just ready for them to be friends! What is the longest it has taken you all to integrate some girls?
