Low egg production?

I have a flock of 8 now 7..they are 1 year old., great egg layers but 2 days ago one died (don't know why) since then we have only collected 2 eggs...did loosing one upset the pecking order? Is this normal?

Give them another week.

I have 14 hens and only got 5 eggs today.

My favorite two leghorns haven't given me an egg in over 2 weeks... the white has given me two shell-less eggs.

I suppose it's time to get out the food coloring, color some vents and see who needs to be culled.

maybe it's too cold

maybe they don't have enough calcium or something.

or maybe they're just shocked that one died.

either way, i hope they'll start laying again soon
