What state?Palm Springs area.
California. Btw I forgot to mention that there is a lot of cock fighting in our area and Lucky ( rooster ) was found while my husband was working on power poles along side the road. Lucky had obviously not won and was thrown out into the desert. He was lethargic and full of dried blood which covered his eyes nose and beak and covered in open wounds. We finally got him eating via a syringe and liquid diet as well as nursed and healed his wounds. He has no Spurs as they were cut off and he only has two toe nails that are pretty long which we need to cut but are very afraid to cause him stress or agony by messing with his feet. Lucky is very nice to women but greatly fears the approach of my husband even if my husband talks softly or like a woman to him lol. What state?
I'm in Michigan, & we get some brutal weather.
It does get hot there.California. obviously we are extremely attached to him and are so happy with his recovery and want them all to be happy.
I did notice when they used to be all together that the rooster with the most damage would flatten and spread her wings the minute he got close to her. Maybe I should remove her from him instead?? Like I said in my earlier post she came to us in that balded condition which became I believe became worse at our home which is the reason I separated Lucky from the hens. Lucky was so much happier when he was with the ladies and now he hangs out inside his condo most of the time or lays next to the border between him and the hens.
I never thought having a flock was going to age me and worry me so much. Everyone that has chickens that I know say I worry to much and their hens look rough too!!! Not what I want to here and not what I want for my hens.
I need trim Luckys nails but again catching him and doing it is a daunting thought and will be traumatic for him or me at least.
