Hi,
Sorry in advance as this is long winded...
I'm no expert with the show standard but here goes...
I got these 2 LS girls as day olds in a batch of 10 the rest were roos anyhow I'm not impressed with their colouring past their hackles (blotchy almost on back) or is this NORMAL?...
I also bought a young roo (at a stupid time coz he was moulting) who was supposedly from show stock. I saw the hens and they were really nice type but wasn't so impressed with this roos father but thought this one would be okay... anyways he's not... well I don't think so IMO... (happy for you to share yours!)
Anyways my question is do I just cull the lot? Or is it possible (if I get a nice roo) to breed out that black?
What am I trying to achieve... Id really like to breed something to show at a couple of local Ag shows nothing too fancy. (I was spoilt quite by accident with a gorgeous LS roo as a young teen and he won champion in every show we entered.) We only entered him coz Everyone who saw him commented on how beaut he was, so we entered him as a joke really...
**hen 1's chicks aren't genetically related she went broody and we couldn't snap her out of it so we put half a dozen eggs under her to put an end to the sitting. They are sussex also but only came from a backyard hobby farm so I'm not expecting anything great.**
