Lump on rooster leg

So what this can be ? He is 7 months old. He walk funny on that leg. I put petroleum jelly on legs if its mites but i dont know what to do?
He is till not crowing or mateing and i want him to make some chiks in spring beacuse he is mix of Jersey giant, marans and australorp. I really want some chiks from this dude so he need be readY for spring breeding. Can he still breed if he has problem with leg and walk funny on that leg?

Is he holding the leg up or putting weight on the leg? It looks a bit funny, might be a fracture, but hard to know without an xray. Splinting can be done with padding, something stiff like 2 popsicle sticks, and vet wrap if there is a fracture. Care has to be taken not to get vet wrap or tape too tight to cut off circulation. You might want to separate him inside a dog crate in the coop with food and water to let him rest the leg first for a few days. Do you see any green skin, which can be a sign of bruising and injury?
