Lump/swollen feather follicle after dog attack.

2 weeks ago my husky got into the run and killed a couple birds. Fence has since been reinforced. I didn't see any other injuries and everyone was acting normal.

I just noticed yesterday that my broody girl sitting on a clutch has a gash by her tail and a big lump close by where new feathers are trying to come out. She's acting same as any usual broody, still out once a day or so to eat and drink, still pecking anyone who comes near. I cleaned the wound, though it was pretty dried up, and am putting triple antibac on it now. Not super red, but worried about this big lump surrounding the three feather shafts coming out. It's pale, in between dime and nickle sized, and on her tail.

What is it?

Should I give her antibiotics? I have Tylan 200 on hand.

She's a year old Lavender Ameraucana

Can you take a picture that shows where exactly that is on the bird? I'm not sure exactly what I'm seeing. It may just be the tail itself, it might appear to be a lump. Image below of a trussed bird where you can see the tail (below where the legs meet) and how meaty it is.

I believe it's a lump on the tail, it's off center, between dime and nickel sized. I'll try and take a better pic when my partner gets home. It's a two person job since she's broody and pecky right now!

Might try to squeeze puss out if there is any but broody you do need help. have triple antibiotic ready.
