I started reading BYC posts and comments back in Jan or Feb, and as of today I'm finally a chicken parent!! I can't even!!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
New to chickens / my first chicks came today!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
six 2-day old chicks
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 dominiques, 2 easter eggers, 2 "assorted" brown layers (not able to confidently ID everyone yet! The EEs are such a toss-up that it's throwing off my research game. My current guesses are 1 RIR and 1 barred rock...)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Less than one day of experience so far, lol, but so far I'm really appreciating the entertainment value! Also, my kids are obsessed, so I think it'll be an awesome learning experience overall. Looking forward to bug control, eggs, and ongoing chicken antics...
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Hiking, reading, gardening, and knitting...
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Web searches for chicken-related questions always lead here! I love the forums - they've given me lots of info about preparation and what to expect. I finally joined when the chicken-owning thing started to seem real. Posting my "Intro" blurb today, because it's my chicks' homecoming day! GAH THEY'RE SO CUTE
