Hello from Macedonia! Is there anyone else here from the Balkans? Or anywhere around Southern Europe?
I am originally from Scotland, married to a Macedonian guy after we both met in Greece. We've been living between Crete, Scotland and Macedonia over the years but we're now settled in Macedonia with our two kids. We bought some land and are trying to be as self sufficient as possible. It's lovely here, although we've had so much rain recently that we've lost like 90% of our cherries, not good, and apart from all my salads which seem to be loving all the water everything else has taken a battering and my veggie plots are not looking as good as they should be
But at least we didn't get all the flooding that they got in Serbia! People have died, there's been landslides and major flooding from all the rain and they are making appeals for aid. The weather is getting crazier every year - the effects of global warming are already upon us. Scary stuff, and a disaster for farming!
On a more positive note, it's lovely and sunny and hot today. I need to go out and do some weeding and earthing up. What's going on where you live?
